Full Description
Starting with a midnight pick-up from your Yogyakarta hotel, the drive to Dieng Plateau takes approximately 3 hours. After you are dropped off, you will have to go on a 20-30 minute hike from the foot of Sikunir Hill which leads you to the Dieng Plateau sunrise viewpoint. If you are lucky and the day is clear, you can view up to 8 volcanoes on the horizon. After witnessing the sunrise, your next stop is Telaga Warna Lake via Batu Pandang Hill. It is also known as the 'Colourful Lake' due to its ever-changing water hues that can range from green, purple, yellow to even the colors of the rainbow, a phenomenon that occurs when the sunlight interacts with the water that has a high sulfur content.
From Telaga Warna Lake your journey will take you to Sikidang Crater, an open sulfur crater characterized by its churning, turbulent mud and surging plumes of steam. Once you arrive there it will feel like an otherworldly experience as it is nestled within a rough and dusty landscape. Nearby you can explore the Arjuna Temple Complex, home to eight small Hindu temples dating back to the seventh century.
Upon completing your adventure, your guide will accompany you back to your Yogyakarta accommodation.
